Happy Birthday, Gracie!

This is what we were doing 3 years ago...

Elly Grace Wade was born on August 15, 2005 at 9:05am. She weighed 7lbs. 5oz. and was 19.5 inches long. She was such a sweet baby. When Maddy saw her, she smiled for over 20 minutes. She kept saying, "I just can't stop smiling! I just can't stop smiling!"

Happy Birthday, Elly! We love you!

from the mouth of elly...

Elly crawled into our bed at 6:05am today. I yawned and Elly exclaimed, "Omigosh! Holy cow, mommy!" That got us all giggling! What a fun way to start our day...

Olympic Inspiration

We haven't watched much of the Olympics yet and daddy turned it on tonight after dinner. We caught a little of the women's gymnastics competition. The girls wanted to give it a try...

Check out Elly's game face! Ta Da! Team somersault... and Ta Da!

Hope the Olympics inspire you, too!

Banana Splits

Maddy made banana splits on Friday at summer camp. She gave us a lesson last night on how to make them and we enjoyed them after dinner. Yummy!

Stupid.

I dislike that word. So I am not very happy that my sweet little Elly has a new love for the word "stupid." Stupid thing!" "Stupid sister!" "Stupid mommy!" And she has a grumpy look to go with her frustrated words. I tried to talk her into saying "silly" instead. It isn't going so well...

How we spent our vacation...

Riding our bikes... Maddy is doing such a great job...hard to believe she picked it up so quickly! :) Playing at the park... Playdough... Deanna Rose Farmstead in KC with mommy & daddy! :)
To celebrate daddy's last day working for the parks & rec dept. (teacher's meetings at EHS start 8/4!) we ate at Red Robin...mmmm, yummy! Bottomless steak fries, vanilla milkshakes, creamy mac & cheese (for Elly), cheese pizza (for Maddy), and gigantic burgers for mommy & daddy! Don't forget the balloons! :)
They even had fresh cantaloupe! We are so going back to Red Robin!!
Daddy took us to the golf store and the girls loved playing on the course! Daddy would be so excited if his girls liked golf...because mommy does not!
Painted toenails...
Dancing to old music (the Jackson 5!)...
*I also took them to the library for story hour and crafts. No pictures, though, because I spent the entire time chasing Elly around the children's dept. When is that girl going to love the library as much as Maddy and I do? I keep taking her and she keeps thinking it is a great place for running... :(
*I also took them to our city pool two afternoons this week so daddy could work on banquet "stuff." No pictures, though, because I spent the entire time going up the stairs and down the huge water slide with the girls! I got to spend 4 hours listening to Elly's contagious belly laughs. Oh how they made me smile and laugh with her! Maddy also enjoyed jumping off the diving boards and was so proud of herself! I love my girls!
*Now, who wants to take these two girls for a couple of days so I can recover from entertaining them all week? I am exhausted! Just kidding! :) We had so much FUN!

From the mouth of Maddy...

(Whining!) "The only reason God sent me a little sister was to break all of my toys!"

This picture is from Valentine's Day 2007...so sweet...when they kind of enjoyed each other! ************************************************ Maddy: "I want to tell you a joke, okay mommy?"

Mommy: "Okay."

Maddy: "Look under there, mommy!" (whispers) "Say under where, mommy!"

Mommy: "Under where, Maddy?"

Maddy: (Laughing uncontrollably) "Ha! Ha! You said underwear, mommy!"

Ahhh...1st grade humor...you gotta love it! :) ************************************************ Maddy told Kevin today that his beard felt like a porcupine. She then told him rather sternly to "go shave it off, daddy!"

A tooth fairy visit...

This is what Maddy left under her pillow last night...

You will notice that the teeth in the middle were barely hanging on...the roots are gone. I don't know what was holding them in! We wiggled & wiggled... The teeth on the outside had deep roots...I think they may have fallen out in 2010! :)

That sneaky tooth fairy left Maddy a note (who knew the tooth fairy had such curly, loopy handwriting?), some special gum that actually prevents cavities (from our dentist, no less), some pet shop stickers, and some Strawberry Shortcake stick-on earrings and rings!

Maddy said she hardly slept at all last night...she kept waking up and touching the things that the tooth fairy left her. She is so sweet...she let Elly have one of the rings and try on a pair of earrings.

Elly's art project

This is one of Elly's favorite art activities right now...gluing all by "myself!" Adding tissue paper on top of the glue... Peeling off stickers... ...to add to the top! :)
Fun times!

She left with all of her baby teeth...

Maddy went to see Dr. Kelli Henderson at Growing Smiles this morning. She arrived with all of her baby teeth and left missing 4 teeth! Bless her heart. The little girl who has had no cavities in her life had to have 4 teeth pulled. She sucks her thumb (she is working on giving it up... a chart with 50 squares is in her room and when each one is filled...she will get a new bike and we get a cheaper orthodontist bill later!) and her grown-up teeth were coming in behind her baby teeth! In May, Dr. Kelli recommended pulling her two bottom front teeth (which were very loose but would not fall out!) and pulling the ones on either side to encourage her adult teeth to come up in the right space. Maddy was so brave (she took her brown bear for comfort). She enjoyed time playing with Elly in the waiting room while we waited her turn...
Growing Smiles has a great area for the children to play and watch a movie...
Nurse Mary came to get her and Elly & I walked her back while she got comfortable with the laughing gas. We left her during the procedure (I knew she was in good hands!) and Elly found this great octopus chair.
Notice the water on the front of her shirt? She got a drink from the water fountain all by herself! So big!
Dr. Kelli came out after she was finished and said Maddy did a great job! No soda or straws for 24 hours (no problem, the girls don't drink soda), soft foods, (no problem, Annie's mac & cheese for lunch, Maddy's favorite!), and Motrin as needed. She is having a great afternoon! And this is how adorable she looks...
Look carefully and you will see her two grown up teeth showing with 2 empty spaces on either side. What a cutie! I love her! She is definitely excited about a tooth fairy visit tonight and already has her 4 teeth in the little tooth pillow that Santa left in her stocking. I'll post tomorrow about her visit... Hugs, amy PS~Thank you Dr. Kelli and Nurse Mary for your gentle care this morning! Maddy is looking forward to her teeth cleaning in December. It must be that Sheridan's ice cream cone coupon that you gave her. :)

It rained on our parade!

My friend Heather's husband, Grant, is running for County Commissioner in our district. That is him above standing with Heather, and their daughter Quillen, and Brady (who drove their truck.) Tonight was the CPA parade and we walked with them passing out water balloons, flyers, & magnets. The girls have been looking forward to this all week...especially since Heather gave us Grant t-shirts to wear... They have been dancing around the house wearing their t-shirts singing, "We are the Eichhorn princesses! We are the Eichhorn princesses!" :) Our plan for the evening was to walk in the parade and then walk around the carnival to see some friends and get some cotton candy or a snow cone. But, Mother Nature had different plans for us today...a thunderstorm! Usually, the CPA parade is so hot you cannot breathe! Not today. The parade was scheduled to start at 7pm but because of the storm rolling in, they started it 15 minutes early. I don't know what was more crazy...us for walking in the lightning or the parade-goers for watching us from their metal lawn chairs! It was a good thing that we were at the beginning of the parade because shortly after we made it to the end it started pouring down buckets of rain! While the storm raged outside, Grant and Heather treated us to some yummy BBQ! Thanks, guys, we had so much fun!!
Elly enjoyed her pink lemonade and french fries with ketchup!
Maddy enjoyed sitting next to Quillen, Grant & Heather's daughter. They walked together in the parade handing out water balloons to the children. Quillen is so sweet to Maddy & Elly. :)Elly ran into her good friend, Andrew, at the parade! She had to stop and give him a hug! We miss Andrew! I took this before the parade...can you tell how excited they were? Vote for Grant!!
