last baseball pics.

These are the last of the baseball pics... They had an adorable merry-go-round. Maddy really wanted to ride on the Bald Eagle.
Sno-cones. :) Maddy loves these...she does not care so much for ice cream (WHAT??!!) and sno-cones are right up her alley.
Funnel cake. (Next time we will skip the funnel cake & wait to eat it at the fair.) Not the best but, that didn't slow us down! Ha!
The Wade Family. Showing off those Looooong blue tongues! :)
Where did those long tongues come from anyway?
Here's a hint...daddy! ;)
Both girls fell asleep on the way home. It made for a quiet ride home! :)

baseball #3

You didn't think I forgot about all of those baseball pictures, did you? :) Mini-golf was next up at our afternoon at the Royal's game...not sure why but, this big baseball with the silly face cracked me up! I even had it as my facebook profile picture for a few days. :)
Elly showing off her pink ball.
Maddy had blue. The Wade girls were so excited to play...they know daddy loves golf!
They had a cute course set up for the kiddos... Challenging in some areas, too. See that narrow strip of green...there is a flowing "river" beneath it that goes into a fountain.
Daddy helped Elly...
Here's where the balls go if they fall into the river...there is a grate that catches all the balls...
What fun!

breakfast cookies.

Wade girl #2 has a big sweet tooth just like me so I was thrilled to find this recipe for breakfast cookies! She really enjoyed them...
Oats, applesauce, honey, vanilla, & cinnamon. That's it. They were quite yummy. :)

she's gone.

If you ask Elly about her best friend...
she will tell you that R. moved to Minnesota. It's true. Her last day at school was this past Friday. I don't think it has really hit Elly yet... :(

plain jane sandals

I have been searching for plain jane sandals for the Wade girls to wear to church. It has been a crazy search... Our usual shoe haunts (Kohl's, Famous Footwear, SuperTarget) have crazy character (think High School Musical & Hello Kitty) sandals or multi-colored. I really wanted plain brown open-toed sandals... But, I found these... at Stride Rite for $9.99/pair! Woo-Hoo! They were on sale and I couldn't pass them up. Plain Jane white sandals. :)

love & logic

I sure was glad I have been listening to this lately...
when my dear 7 1/2 year old daughter threw a tantrum in public last night. While she was screaming "You are the meanest mommy EVER!" I just took her by the hand and said, "Nice try."
Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and....you get the drift. :)
I didn't get mad. I told her it was too bad that she didn't listen to my words and now had to hold my hand in public. How embarrassing.
When she was screaming at me at the top of her lungs and I feigned deafness and she wanted to know if I was going to ignore her FOREVER. I told her that she was being so LOUD that I couldn't hear her. And if she chose to talk to me in a normal voice...than I might be able to hear her words. Maybe. ;)

Triathlon!

Maddy has been training for the Iron Kids Triathlon at summer camp for a couple of weeks now. They have been swimming, biking, & running as well as stretching and exercises to get in better "shape." :) She had to swim 3 laps in the pool, bike 3 times around the back 40, and run 3 times around the pond. The triathlon was Thursday. Wednesday afternoon, all of the athletes gathered for a meal of pasta & breadsticks. Isn't that funny? :) Above is a picture of the kiddos getting last minute instructions. Maddy is in the middle with her game face ON.
Here is a picture of all of the bikes all lined up & ready to go...
Daddy & Elly snuggling before I took her to her swim in her pool with her class. Elly has been swimming in the big pool this week...3 feet on both ends with a 5 ft. in the middle. Way to go, Elly! :) She also had pink eye this week (right eye) and had Fifth's Disease. Ugh. She didn't have to miss any school but, she looked terrible. Her rash was very pronounced on Friday & Sat.
Maddy was in the 3rd heat (as she was one of the youngest triathletes). She is 4th from the left in the blue swimsuit. Again...notice the game face. Ha!
Better picture of the game face.
This picture shows you how ready she was to compete. Maddy is already in the water & some of the children haven't even figured out they should have jumped! She had a HUGE smile on her face the whole time. She loved it.
They could do any stroke they wanted...she did the doggy paddle and here is the crawl. Here is her last lap...the back stroke. I can't even tell you how proud we are of her! Heading to her bike...
Getting on her action sandals...
Off she goes...(we were praying the whole time that she would not get into a bike wreck. She was in one 2 weeks ago during wheel day at camp. Thank goodness for her helmet! She only had a skinned elbow & knee.) She did amazing. No wrecks. She is awesome. :)
Heading down the path towards the back 40 on her second lap. She is right in the middle with the pink helmet on...
She was so excited that daddy took the morning off to come and cheer her on. He took her bike for her after the bike portion and got her some water after her first lap of running. What a good daddy. :) The 3rd and final lap. Go Maddy!!
Running around the pond...
She ran the last lap & a half without stopping and was passing people right & left. She finished 9th of 24 children! She was the youngest child to finish in the top 10. Her time was 33:58! She was amazing! We are so proud of you, Maddy! Afterwards, they had gatoraide & granola bars. She also got an Iron Kids Triathlon t-shirt. I think this is something she will do every summer. Way to go, Maddy!
*Do I even need to mention how well she slept on Thursday night? :)

father's day.

We got back from A-town this afternoon. Kevin made us an amazing fajita dinner and bought us this yummy chocolate cheesecake for dessert. The girls loved it! :)
Here is daddy with his girls...
Opening cards...(notice daddy's tongue) :)
Reading the cards...(notice Elly's tongue) :) A chip off the ol' block, I would say!
Daddy's reaction to his Father's Day gift!
Very special...
This turned out so cute! :) Thanks, Beki, for the idea!
