Maddy has been training for the Iron Kids Triathlon at summer camp for a couple of weeks now. They have been swimming, biking, & running as well as stretching and exercises to get in better "shape." :) She had to swim 3 laps in the pool, bike 3 times around the back 40, and run 3 times around the pond. The triathlon was Thursday. Wednesday afternoon, all of the athletes gathered for a meal of pasta & breadsticks. Isn't that funny? :) Above is a picture of the kiddos getting last minute instructions. Maddy is in the middle with her game face ON.

Here is a picture of all of the bikes all lined up & ready to go...

Daddy & Elly snuggling before I took her to her swim in her pool with her class. Elly has been swimming in the big pool this week...3 feet on both ends with a 5 ft. in the middle. Way to go, Elly! :) She also had pink eye this week (right eye) and had Fifth's Disease. Ugh. She didn't have to miss any school but, she looked terrible. Her rash was very pronounced on Friday & Sat.

Maddy was in the 3rd heat (as she was one of the youngest triathletes). She is 4th from the left in the blue swimsuit. Again...notice the game face. Ha!

Better picture of the game face.

This picture shows you how ready she was to compete. Maddy is already in the water & some of the children haven't even figured out they should have jumped!

She had a HUGE smile on her face the whole time. She loved it.

They could do any stroke they wanted...she did the doggy paddle and here is the crawl.

Here is her last lap...the back stroke. I can't even tell you how proud we are of her!

Heading to her bike...

Getting on her action sandals...

Off she goes...(we were praying the whole time that she would not get into a bike wreck. She was in one 2 weeks ago during wheel day at camp. Thank goodness for her helmet! She only had a skinned elbow & knee.)

She did amazing. No wrecks. She is awesome. :)

Heading down the path towards the back 40 on her second lap. She is right in the middle with the pink helmet on...

She was so excited that daddy took the morning off to come and cheer her on. He took her bike for her after the bike portion and got her some water after her first lap of running. What a good daddy. :)

The 3rd and final lap. Go Maddy!!

Running around the pond...

She ran the last lap & a half without stopping and was passing people right & left. She finished 9th of 24 children! She was the youngest child to finish in the top 10. Her time was 33:58! She was amazing! We are so proud of you, Maddy!

Afterwards, they had gatoraide & granola bars. She also got an Iron Kids Triathlon t-shirt. I think this is something she will do every summer. Way to go, Maddy!
*Do I even need to mention how well she slept on Thursday night? :)

Wow! Way to go Ms. Madalyn!
Those are great pictures, and that is quite a race! Something, I'm sure, that Elly will be training for someday too. Way to go guys!
Love you!
Good job, Maddy. I like that you don't give up. Did you get tired?
