thinkin' of vicki lou...

Sending you lots of hugs today...as we all remember Grandpa Greg... Grandparenting isn't what you expected it to be but, we think you are fantastic. God chose you, Vicki Lou, to be Maddy & Elly's grandma...and we are so glad to have you in our lives.

girl scout cookies

I have a funny story about my firstborn shown here on her last birthday...
I was dropping her off at school the other day & this little girl came running over and said, "Maddy, I need your money for the girl scout cookies you ordered by Friday!" This came as a shock to me because I didn't order girl scout cookies or give you know who permission to order girl scout cookies! I think they are fairly tasty but quite expensive ($3.50/box) and there aren't too many cookies in those little boxes!
We got it worked out & I paid for the cookies...this time. Rest assured that we had a little chitchat about money & asking permission BEFORE she orders anything again!
Luckily, she's a girl after my own heart & ordered 2 boxes of Peanut Butter Patties! :)

an evening with elly...

Last Friday night, Kevin took Maddy to a high school basketball game. Elly & I stayed home. It was fun...she enjoyed a bath all by herself. Wish we would have had some bubbles...she would have loved that!
She loves to wear Maddy's goggles! It keeps the water out of her eyes when we rinse her hair.
She enjoyed giving her Emily a bath... It was fun to rock her until she fell asleep in my arms...I just kissed on her & loved her & prayed for her. I love my Elly. My little Gracie girl.

Hullabaloo.

Hullabaloo. Our favorite game. Seriously. If you don't have it (and have young kiddos), you need to run & get it. The 4 of us play this game almost every night (after supper). It is so fun...
We put this in the center of our floor...

Lay out these around it...and wait for the directions. Zoom to a square. Hop to a musical intrument. Crawl to a food. Try this hullabaloo move...

At the end..."You're a winner! Take a bow!" or "Do a funky dance" or...oh, you get the idea! :)

a bloggy break & the girls.

I took a bit of a bloggy break this past week...I had a birthday. Not gonna say which one. But, Kevin took me to the Cheesecake Factory & it was so nice to spend some time with him... Grandma Vicki came down to watch the girls (thank you, Vicki Lou!) and she kept Elly home from school on Friday. They made a birthday cake for Aunt Katy and myself...very yummy! Katy came over for dinner Friday & it was nice to spend some time with her. This weekend, my cousin Stacy & her family came over for dinner & games. SO MUCH FUN! :) Today, we had pictures taken at church for the new directory.
Here is a photo of the girls after supper...
Elly let me know that she had had enough with the pictures... :)

5 days...

Elly wore this Hanna Anderson dress 5 days in a row...
Our washer & dryer has been very busy...

Wishing for snow...

Do you think my little girls will get to play in the snow this winter? I long to take some pictures like these...
It snowed 9 inches on 12.8.05! Look how far it comes up on Maddy's legs! Snow fell overnight on that Wednesday and we got to have that Thursday & Friday as snow days!
Do you think Maddy will get to help her daddy shovel the sidewalk like she did in this picture from 1.21.o7?
Elly had so much fun in the snow for the first time on that same day! It was fairly balmy after the snow fell (no mittens for Elly while she was walking around)...the snow was almost all gone by that night & the next morning.
Will the girls get to build a snowman with their daddy?
Will Elly get to shovel the driveway with her daddy like she did on 12.28.07? Do you think Maddy will get to make another snowball to put in our freezer like this one is?
I hope Elly gets a chance to taste the newly fallen snow! Will Polly Wade get to play fetch in the snow? Better yet...will she get to tackle Kevin in the snow? Will the girls?
**********
I sure do hope so! I want a snow day! :)

Sassy mouth...

Mommy: "Maddy, if you are done with your breakfast, please clear your space." Maddy: "I did clear my space." Mommy: "I still see your dishes at your space." Maddy: "I see the world through different eyes, mommy!" ********** Ha! It is so hard to discipline that child when we are all laughing! :)

in the early hours of dawn...

Sunday morning... 3:45am~Elly cries out my name from her room...(she lost her paci!) I crawl under her bed & retrieve it for her. Snuggle her back in while getting my ears rubbed... ********** 4am~Elly creeps into our room & climbs in our bed with her little stuffed dog who is barking! Thank you, grandma Vicki! :) ********** 4:30am~Elly is still rubbing my ears (yes, both of them!) trying to fall asleep. Finally...she drifts off. ********** 5:10am~Maddy comes in complaining that she does not feel good. I go snuggle with her in her bed until she drifts back to sleep... BTW, I think she if feeling okay. She is getting a cold... ********** 5:30am~Polly vomits in Maddy's room while I am snuggling with her. I get up & put the dog out. ********** 5:35am~Gate Polly in the kitchen. Clean up doggy vomit quietly as Maddy has fallen back asleep. ********** 5:45am~Decide to just get up for the day...start a load of laundry, finish loading the dishwasher, start the dishwasher, cook the chicken for tonight's meal, prepare tonight's meal... ********** Oh, the early morning of a mom! :)

a birthday wish & a tooth update!

Happy birthday, Rick! We are so glad you live so close to us now...why don't we get together more often? Stacy and I will have to work on that! :)
**********
Elly's dentist would like to leave Elly's tooth alone until her next check-up in June. There is no nerve damage and it does not seem to be bothering her...so we will wait. But, the next time you see this silly girl...
...do not tease her!

Happy Birthday!

We couldn't let the day get away without wishing this special guy a Happy Birthday!
We love you, Uncle Randy! We wish you a year of good health & happiness!
**********
(One of my New Year's resolutions is to remember birthdays...I am HORRIBLE at sending cards...don't really know why...I love them...so a Wade girl's blog shout-out is the next best thing!)

2009

Happy New Year! We have been busy getting our house cleaned & organized to put on the market. I went through Elly's room & reorganized the girl's bathroom. I turned our craft closet back into a coat closet. Today, I am working on reorganizing Maddy's room & the kitchen. Please pray for God's wisdom in this decision. I feel like Kevin is going through a mid-life crisis (minus the affair or sports car purchase! :) ) He has gone back to school, is interviewing for new jobs, he resigned from coaching football, and now... the house. He has been looking at houses near R. school but has not been too impressed. I am not willing to leave our home for something not as nice as ours. I do think 2009 will bring a lot of changes for the Wade family.
