Easy Bake
One weekend day, the girls wanted donuts. I told them they could make donuts in the Easy Bake oven that Maddy got for Christmas...they had been begging to make them for weeks.

another KU game.
A few weeks ago when Kevin took Maddy to a KU women's NIT game, we really wanted Elly to go, too. So when they won & made it to the next round...we took both Wade girls. Believe it or not, it was my first time at Allen Fieldhouse, too! :O I know! I even went to school there & bought the crazy athletic package (every single year) to get tickets...and DID NOT EVER GO! Shocker.
I digress... Anyway, this is what Elly did the entire time...
Anyway, at half time...Maddy found her friend Isabelle who was sitting 3 rows up from the floor. Maddy is sitting next to the woman in the bright yellow shirt. What great seats! She loved it. KU ended up winning! The KU women ended up having a great season!
She was so not impressed. Maybe it was because it was a school night, maybe because she is 3. Who knows. But, Maddy on the other hand...
really gets into it! She was cheering & asking questions...
calzones
Maddy's Brownie troop went to BPD and made calzones for our family! It's a place where all of the ingredients are already prepared and you create your meals & go home! They even clean up after you! :) Maddy was so proud of herself & her calzones were so yummy!

Thanks, MRW! You can make supper anytime! ;)
something old, something new.
We got Maddy a new bike over spring break and we put the training wheels back on her "old" princess bike to give to Elly.
Pardon the messy garage...but, I love the girls' expressions! We completely suprised them!
Lookin' forward to lots of bike rides with the Wade girls! :)
curbs my shopping addiction...
I have decided that I love the library for 5 reasons:
1.~ I love to read.
2.~ I love books.
3.~ I love to meander in the library...taking out books & flipping through the pages. Sometimes...even sitting in the stacks reading the books.
4.~ Leaving the library with a slew of books curbs my shopping addiction. (Okay, I don't really have an addiction but, I could. Very easily. You know, if I had money and all. ;) )
I want to pass this love down to my girls...Maddy enjoys it & Elly is starting too. The last time we went, Elly did really well. She used to yell in the library (the horror!) and run away! Ha! Anyway, it's almost like Christmas when we have new things from the library!
Did I forget #5?
5.~ It's free! (Unless I forget to renew online but, I never do that who does that?) ;)
they're back...
The boys bees are back in town. Our backyard to be exact. We noticed them last year & our pastor (who has his own beehive) came and closed off the hole. He told us that all of the bees were destroyed (although he wanted to remove them & take them to his hive) because the hive is so far into the trunk of the tree. But, within days, those pesky bees (that survived!) found another hole...higher up. Look how close they are to Elly & Polly in this picture... See that tree to Elly's left...yep...that would be the one.
Here is a picture of the hole...the hive is in there...hundreds of bees going in & out all day long.
I took this picture from the street with my camera zoomed all the way in...so the bees are hard to see. Those two specks on the left are a couple of bees...
They probably won't bother the girls or Polly...but, you never know.
I'm very cranky about this!

Dear God...
Dear God,
Please make me have no potatoes. They are stupid to me.
The End.

Busy work. You gotta love it! :)
I gave the girls a pair of scissors & a small pail...

tonsils.
Madalyn had a consult with Dr. S this morning to see if she needs her tonsils out. She does. He said she is starting to have systemic reactions to the strep infections and damage could happen to her heart & kidneys. Taking out her tonsils & adenoids will greatly decrease the risk of getting strep again. Unfortunately, we switched our health insurance plan on 3.1.09 so we have to wait 240 days for them to cover this 20 minute procedure! Grrr. But, I think that Dr. S & Dr. B (Maddy's primary care physician) are both going to write letters to BCBS to see if they will waive the waiting period. My goodness...we have been with BCBS for over 12 years! I don't understand why when you upgrade to a better plan that they subject you to these crazy waiting periods! I digress...
Dr. S also told us that if Maddy begins to have a fever, nausea, or a sore throat, to bring her in so she can have a penicillin shot. Her body has had the strep infection 7 times in the past 19 months. We need to stay on top of this & keep her healthy (strep-free) until she can have her surgery.
He also said that one of us is probably a carrier...so no more sharing cups, food, drinks, anything. Maddy is to have her own special items. Also, she needs a new toothbrush before, during, & after infections. So...we will be picking up lots of toothbrushes this weekend & getting rid of old water bottles.
When she does have the outpatient procedure done...it will take about 20 minutes. They will watch her for several hours and then she will need to miss one week of school & she cannot leave town for 2 weeks! We will get this all coordinated & keep you posted...

PS~Easter weekend pics are coming...soon. I took 93 pictures! Goodness...how will I ever choose?

swingset
Saturday was a lovely day for some outdoor work around the Wade house. Kevin replaced the canopy on the swingset. He also took down the baby swing & got 2 big swings. Polly has outgrown the need to chew up every single thing in our backyard so this year we will be replacing those things that she has chewed in the past! Kevin also fixed our solar lights and we are planning to plant some bushes and plants in the front & side yard. I'm thinking some potted flowers on the deck.

The girls love the new swings! :)

bangs.
Last Monday, Maddy told me she wanted bangs. I told her I would make an appointment and we would look into it. The next day, she cut herself some bangs on her own. Only one problem...she didn't comb her hair. She just started cutting... I was quite upset. Maddy has never had bangs and she just cut her hair last month. We had talked pretty seriously about the fact that only our hairdresser cuts our hair. So, I took the girls' scissors away & made an appointment for Sat. When Maddy got strep throat, we had to postpone. Until tonight.
I think she is oh, so cute.
So does this guy...
Miss Elly had a super cute haircut, too. She was a wreck though, by the time we got home.
This was about the only smile she could muster. She fell asleep in my arms when I rocked her. :)
To say that she is thrilled is an understatement! She has waited her whole life to have bangs (according to her). Which I suppose is true...
from the mouth of maddy...
"Mommy, I can't wait for Easter! And, not because of the Easter Bunny or the baskets...but, because we get to go to CHURCH!" :)

the napping house...
Thought I would sneak a quick update on the Wade girls while they are all napping...Elly in her room, Polly at the top of the stairs (just in case, Elly would need her!), and Maddy...
snuggled in on the couch! Poor little thing has strep throat again! This is the 3rd time in 5 months...so her tonsils will need to come out. We will meet with our doctor to make some preliminary plans. We will probably have to wait until Christmas break because we just switched our health insurance in March and removal of the tonsils is subject to a 280 day waiting period. (Sigh.)
Kevin & I are feeling rather guilty today. Let me back up a bit and explain...about a month ago, Maddy woke up and told us she wasn't feeling well...her tummy hurt, etc... The girls and I have been sick off and on the last several months so we figured it was just her turn again. Kevin easily took the day off and stayed with her. Turns out that sneaky little girl was tricking us and just didn't want to go to school! So, we told her that she would have to be running a fever or vomiting before she could stay home from school again.
Well, yesterday morning, Maddy would not get up. She kept falling back asleep and crying whenever we woke her. Her head hurt, her tummy hurt, etc... She did not have a fever so I gave her some motrin (just in case, she really did have a headache) and sent her off to school. She perked up in the car and ate some breakfast... I didn't think anything else about it until Ms. Jan showed up at my classroom at 2:05pm and said Maddy had a 102 degree fever. She had been laying in the reading corner for a couple of hours and didn't eat lunch. Oh, joy. Poor little thing was really sick.
JUST. LIKE. SHE. TOLD. ME. SHE. WAS. (Sigh.)
Kevin feels bad b/c he got on her for not getting up when she was asked. I feel bad that I sent her to school sick.
Parent guilt. There is nothing like it.
